There are many simple ways to help the environment by changing small, everyday habits. "Just because you can't do everything all the time does not mean it is not worthwhile to do a little," said John Wiens, a professor in the department of ecology and evolutionary biology at the UA.
Most of the world’s population now lives in cities and demands clean air and water as well as safe and secure food and energy. The UA has expertise in topics such as sustainable built environments, urban green space and biodiversity, transportation, energy, and wastewater treatment that support the design and management of more livable cities, especially in arid environments. The campus also strives to be a model and partner for sustainability within the city of Tucson.
